Ongoing Learning (OGL)
First Aid
All volunteers in a programme facing role must be First Aid certified within 2 years
Learning must be renewed every three years
NOTE:
If using external qualifications and courses, please contact the County First Aid training team (first.aid@glne-scouts.org.uk) to discuss any top-up learning needed.
How does training work?
First Aid training is delivered in two parts:
Learning (10A) and
Practical (10B).
These can be covered as:
A single full day 10A + 10B session,
Several evening 10A sessions, followed by a final 10B session
An e-learning course for 10A, followed by a final session to validate 10A and complete 10B.
We believe that this 3rd "Blended Model" is the most convenient for the majority of adults in the County.
Remember:
The risk assessment for all activities should include First Aid:
Is there somebody with suitable knowledge & qualifications for any accident / injury that's likely to happen?
A first aid kit and accident book are mandatory at all meetings / trips:
Do all volunteers know where it is located and your procedures?
